Double delight for Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce

Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce has scooped a second award by being crowned a winner in this year’s Free From Food Awards.
The delicious curry sauce, which won a Three Star Gold Award in the 2007 Great Taste Awards, was named the winner in the pies, flans, sausages and sauces category of the Foods Matter awards.
The accolade is the latest to be awarded to Anila’s authentic sauces, pickles, chutneys and dips, which have notched up ten Great Taste Awards in total.
“I am absolutely thrilled that Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce has received this Free From Food Award,” said Anila’s founder Anila Vaghela.
“All of my curry sauces are free from preservatives, sugar, dairy and gluten, as well as containing no onions or garlic, which makes them ideal for people with certain allergies or those who wish to avoid specific ingredients.
“The fact that the Spicy Korma Curry Sauce has already won a Three Star Great Taste Award proves that taste doesn’t have to be compromised when it comes to ‘free from’ food.”
A supplier to Harrods, Selfridges, Planet Organic, health food stores and hundreds of independent delicatessens, Anila’s was established in 1998, five years after Anila Vaghela had the idea to create real home-style cooking sauces in jars to make curries in minutes and to give the taste and flavour of home-cooking without the hard work.
Eleven years later, Anila’s has grown to become the leader in the authentic curry sauce market in the UK, producing a range of eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches and free from preservatives, sugar, dairy and gluten.
Anila’s has also expanded into producing chutneys, pickles and dips. The current range of 16 is uniquely made with single fruits and vegetables to conserve freshness, giving a natural, authentic experience… delicious with various types of dishes and cheeses to create perfect harmony between taste and sensation.
More than 200 products were shortlisted in the Free From Food Awards, sponsored by Livwell, part of the Finsbury Food Group. Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce was one of the 12 category winners. It is made with creamy coconut, spices and tomatoes.
The awards were presented by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson, at Burgh House, London.
Anila’s Sauces has started to export to Dubai as of March 2009. In April Anila went to Dubai to meet with the distributor and visited the shop to promote the products. The new shop, called Gourmet Station is located in the Oasis Mall on Sheik Zayed Road. In typical Dubai splendour no expense has been spared on the shop which stocks the highest quality speciality food from around the world.
Anila spent time briefing the shop staff about each product in her range and also conducted a tasting for those customers lucky enough to visit the store on Friday morning!
Anila is very excited about the opportunity represented by the Dubai market and hopes that the sauces will be taken on by other high end stores in Dubai and throughout the Emirates.
